NEW Custom Beetle Original & Prints For Sale!

On Valentines day I couldn't think of a better car to draw then a Vw Beetle, but I certainly thought the car could use a little tweaking. I own a 72, and while I love it- I can't help but re imagine it. So the roof is chopped, and the wind screen tilted back a little- not a major re imagine, but enough to give the car a little motion without being too radical. As with always, this was done completely freehand using Fine & Ultra Fine Sharpies- no rulers were used.

NEW Original Piece with Custom Painted Frame For Sale!

This is an original piece named "201" after the early Ford I-4 motor (201 was the displacement), and was done entirely freehand on 5"x7" illustration board using only Ultra Fine Sharpies. In addition, the satin black frame was hand painted using gloss enamels and a paint brush to extend the artwork out onto the frame. I really love doing the frames extended pieces- they really seem to add more fun to everything. For Sale!

NEW Custom Painted Framed Print for Sale

I've started on a new batch of these custom painted framed prints using nice smooth satin black frames, and prints from my most recent custom car art. This piece in particular is titled "V-8" and features a 1932 Ford. Once the print is installed into the frame I continue the artwork out onto the frame using white and black pinstripe enamels and a pinstripe brush freehand. I really like the look of these- especially with the artwork wrapping around the inner and outside edges, it just has so much more life! This is also a great way to get a finished, framed print of some killer artwork and get some original artwork at the same time. I've started on a set of these from the same custom car series using the pieces "Straight-8" and "Dual Bullet" as the basis for the custom framed prints-  I plan on selling them as a set, but each can be bought individually for $50 + Shipping, and I'm more then happy to ship internationally.

NEW Custom Car Art "V-8"

I have a good bit of catching up to do here on the Blog-  I've switched gears a little bit with a handful of recent pieces that all started with this piece I did 2 Saturdays ago titled "V-8".  This piece pays tribute to the 1st production car with a V-8, the 1932 Ford. If you look carefully you'll find 8 pistons mixed in with the perspective-ized sharpie art. The really fun thing about this piece is that all the lines were done completely freehand with Sharpies- No rulers were used. This original piece sold before I had even finished it- but 3 Limited Edition Signed Print sizes are available. The piece was scanned so the prints will be absolutely true to the original in very high definition.
Prints are available here:  http://www.PinstripeChris.com/CustomCarStore

Stay tuned for lots more of these!

New Mixed Media Piece "Acrylic Spark" For Sale

I made this little test piece today in between emails and coffee to try out a concept I had in mind. What it ended up being was a really mixed media piece that was just plain fun to do! Here we have what started out as a pure Sharpie Art piece, then added to with acrylic washes, opaques, and finally enamel. A little bit of airbrushing and localized 'fling' to finish it up. My basic idea was a spark plug with an acrylic fling style spark- then I decided to embellish a little. What's really funny is the cross between Animation Cell style shading, and Airbrushed shading- means the rule book got thrown out the window on this one  :)

New Sharpie Art "Lamborgreeni" For Sale

After taking about a thousand photos, here's the final picture of the piece titled "Lamborgreeni". This piece is a new version of the piece I did a couple weeks back titled "Art In Motion", but sports a huge mix of acrylics in addition to the sharpie art to bring it to life. I went with a number of different application techniques- brushed acrylics, flung acrylics, airbrushed acrylics...all over the Sharpie art. Even decided to go with a carbon fiber like stripe at the top to kind of help keep the mood without dominating the piece with black, white and green. The corner shot is to show that the artwork wraps around all the edges of the canvas giving it a complete and finished look. The colors are nice and bright, but definitely better in person. This is a great piece for anyone who like Italian craftsmanship mixed with abstract art.  I will definitely be doing more of these with some more cool cars!

NEW Sharpie Art "Acrylic Invasion!" Finished & For Sale

Well now... this is fun to look at! I made this piece as a re-visit to the idea of the "Sharpie Vs Acrylic Battle"- only in this particular version the acrylic is the invading force. I got to use a handful of methods I experimented with last week and put them altogether to make this one- even did a little bit of airbrushing to get some drop shadows in there to help add some life to it. I'm still trying out brands of acrylic to test color quality, opacity, and dry gloss level, but I think I've found a couple that prove to be quite vibrant. This was a lot of fun and I didn't make too big of a mess. I really love the way the colors came out and how the different application techniques interact with the sharpie art.

New Sharpie Art "Beautiful Disaster" For Sale

Did this piece suuuuper fast last night- had a small piece of 11"x14" canvas and thought it'd be best used as a test piece for an idea I could later use on a larger scale. I did the ink work 1st, then quickly masked a few areas, flung in black and red acrylic, then unmasked to reveal the clean canvas areas. The effect come out great- I was able to mix a couple mediums without the acrylic dominating the Sharpie. Now what to do with it...

Since it's in limbo, I'm making it available to buy for just $75, or an 8.5"x11" Print for just $15

SOLD!!  Prints, however, are still available!

New Sharpie Art "V-12" For Sale

So here's the last piece of 2012 I did I call "V-12". I decided on this name because I think it has a slight Ferrari/Italian feel with the Red & white split between a Gold pinstripe, and also because this piece has more of a smooth flow with larger elements rather then smaller more highly complex elements. The piece was really a test of could the art still make an impact with less? I was able to get more detail into the larger elements this way, which I like. Also I like the contrast of simplicity from some of my other pieces. The corner shot is to show that the artwork neatly continues around all the edges giving it a finished look without adding a frame.

As with always, this was done completely freehand and both the artwork and acrylic wrap around the canvas.

NEW Sharpie Art Piece Finshed & For Sale!

Just finished the largest most intricate Sharpie Illustration I've ever done short of one of the Sharpie Cars. This piece measures 32"x40" and has the added use of color, Ultra Fine Sharpie Marker lines, new elements and a fresh perspective. This one was incredibly fun to do- the freedom to really create what ever I can think of and really sharpen everything is a blast. And it can be viewed in other directions!

NEW Sharpied Framed Prints

Only 1 Available
Just before last weekends Artist's Night at Stumblefoot Brewery in San Marcos, I decided to grab a few frames to house some of the prints I had for sale- specifically for the show. So I got one of each- black & white. And once the prints were placed in their respective frames, another idea dawned on me-  why not continue part of the artwork out onto the frame? I've seen this done with artwork in the past and I think it's a great way to offer a complete framed print that does have some original hand done artwork to it-  best of both worlds! So here it is- the top print is a close up of the Sharpie Mustang roof continued with black Sharpie, and the bottom is a print of the 'Sharpie Labyrinth" continued with silver Sharpie. The top one sold at the show and I got a great response out of the idea so I will be offering this in the store shortly- each one will be different then the last. At this time the bottom one needs a home- its a true 1/1 that I'll part with for the event price of only $50 +shipping. Frame measures 10.5"x12.5" And if anyone is interested in having one specially made, please email me: Cruizin4Customs@hotmail.com

NEW Sharpie Art Piece "Sharpie Labyrinth"

A couple evenings ago I decided to try out a new piece of 15"x20" Marker Illustration Board to see what it could handle. To my delight and surprise, it handled everything that I wanted it to very very well- no bleeding of edges, the white was very clean and smooth, and the board was nice and firm. Just fantastic. I wish I had gotten a larger piece actually. In doing this piece I also decided I wanted to try and do a more 'traditional' sharpie piece- something without airbrushing or acrylics. As a result I found myself spending more time on detail to help make the piece more interesting and really bring it to life. Somehow, it still has a little feeling of depth. I'm very very happy with the way it came out and can't wait to get more!

This original piece is now available for only $100:
