NEW Painting: Martini Porsche
Today started with a Martini... Porsche. Shaken, not stirred. As I'm mixing up mediums and getting new artwork out I've been alternating between hot rods, race cars, and exotics- today I wanted to get in to a vintage race car with a popular livery. I of course wanted to approach the artwork from a fresh perspective and work the color dynamics in my preferred way.
This Original Painting is available:
Acrylics on 12"x24" Stretched Canvas available at http://www.pinstripechris.com/martiniporscheoriginal

Kustom 49 Ford Shoe Box & Ferrari F40 Original Art
It's been an awesome week this past week as my wife and I have been having profound conversations about some direction changes with artwork and our business as a whole. All good things, I promise- a lot of reflecting (which I highly recommend making time for). The really great thing about looking back at times is how it can help you look forward- in this case some of our new ideas are based on refining older ones. But I digress! Since we spent a lot of time talking about about art, I gave myself some space to create my own ideas every day this past week instead of what we had planned. The result was something in the neighborhood of 5 or 6 original pieces, 1 of which was a painting on canvas that I am really looking forward to sharing. Among the new artwork is the 2 drawings above: the Kustom 49 Ford ShoeBox (done using pencils, ink, & gouache on 11x17 paper), and the Ferrari F40 Design Compilation (done using pencils & gouache on 11x17 paper)- both of which illustrate not only some of my favorite designs, but layouts and techniques I personally really enjoy. Out of all the artwork I made and shared this past week, these 2 are the only remaining available originals I have left- if you're interested in owning one of these original drawings please check them out at:

Custom 32 Ford Roadster Rendering
About a month ago I was preparing to do a a few silver/grey vehicle renderings back to back and wanted to test out some materials together. I often do a 'test piece' prior to a full on piece to make sure that the markers and paints I've selected work well together on the surface I'm going to use. This 32 was the combination of a few idea's I'd had for a custom roadster, but was also a great opportunity to test out those materials. This piece was done using markers and airbrushed acrylics on paper, then I picked up a frame for it and hand pinstriped it with tan to match the interior. It was a whole lot of fun to put together and I got to learn a lot from it- I'll take any excuse to draw a custom car!

Custom 50 Ford Ink Art & Custom Matching Frame
This piece was the last and one of the largest marker pieces I've done, especially with a painted to match frame. The original piece is on 22"x30" illustration board and features a custom 1950 Ford rendered with gold markers. The background was done with grey tone markers and Sharpies, and the entire piece was done completely freehand- no rulers, tools, stencils or templates were used. Then the original was taken to my local custom framers where they fitted it with glass, a 2.75" wide satin black frame all around, sealed up the back and included mounting wire so it's ready to hang. The last steps were to mix matching enamels (whites, blacks, and greys) to match the original tone of the ink drawing and extend the artwork out on to the frame by hand. The artwork extensions also wrap completely around the edges of the frame. The completed piece measures 27"x35"x1"
This original is currently available for $500 and Free Shipping within the USA, can be purchased here along with many other available originals and prints:

This one is a good example of that- Sharpie style, but done with a mix of gouaches and enamels- some brushed, some airbrushed. NEW Original Piece with Custom Painted Frame For Sale!
This is an original piece named "201" after the early Ford I-4 motor (201 was the displacement),
and was done entirely freehand on 5"x7" illustration board using only
Ultra Fine Sharpies. In addition, the satin black frame was hand painted
using gloss enamels and a paint brush to extend the artwork out onto
the frame. I really love doing the frames extended pieces- they really
seem to add more fun to everything. For Sale!

New Mixed Media Piece "Acrylic Spark" For Sale
I made this little test piece today in between emails and coffee to try
out a concept I had in mind. What it ended up being was a really mixed
media piece that was just plain fun to do! Here we have what started out
as a pure Sharpie Art piece, then added to with acrylic washes, opaques, and
finally enamel. A little bit of airbrushing and localized 'fling' to
finish it up. My basic idea was a spark plug with an acrylic fling style
spark- then I decided to embellish a little. What's really funny is the cross between Animation Cell style shading, and Airbrushed shading- means the rule book got thrown out the window on this one :)
