Kustom 49 Ford Shoe Box & Ferrari F40 Original Art

It's been an awesome week this past week as my wife and I have been having profound conversations about some direction changes with artwork and our business as a whole. All good things, I promise- a lot of reflecting (which I highly recommend making time for). The really great thing about looking back at times is how it can help you look forward- in this case some of our new ideas are based on refining older ones. But I digress! Since we spent a lot of time talking about about art, I gave myself some space to create my own ideas every day this past week instead of what we had planned. The result was something in the neighborhood of 5 or 6 original pieces, 1 of which was a painting on canvas that I am really looking forward to sharing. Among the new artwork is the 2 drawings  above: the Kustom 49 Ford ShoeBox (done using pencils, ink, & gouache on 11x17 paper), and the Ferrari F40 Design Compilation (done using pencils & gouache on 11x17 paper)- both of which illustrate not only some of my favorite designs, but layouts and techniques I personally really enjoy. NEW Original Painting Off To The Framers- "53 Bui-Rolet"

The "53 Bui-rolet" original painting is off to the framers along with some other artwork today- once it's complete I'll extend the artwork out on to the frame and the finished piece will be available. I'm also working on large canvas prints of this as well since, as an American car, bigger = better

Custom 1949 Mercury Rendering (test piece)

I'm gearing up to do a rendering of a 49 Merc for a customer-  and sometimes when I'm getting ready to do a rendering I do a quick practice version of it so I can test out some materials. This way I'll already have all my tones and colors picked out and ready to go for the final piece. So this was a test piece I did a couple nights ago of a custom 49 Merc using:

New Custom 51 Mercury Original Piece & Prints Now Available

Late last week I finally got a chance to finish up this marker & airbrush illustration of a custom 1951 Mercury, as well as the hand painted to match frame which was done using enamels. Both the illustration and the frame were done completely freehand- no rulers or curves were used for the lines. This guy measures 22.25"x29.25" and is the original with an original frame, ready to hang. I also have 13"x19" signed & numbered limited edition prints of this piece- both the original and prints are available here:

59 Cadillac Painting

Trying to catch up on emails today and getting some odds and ends done in between to keep making progress- At the moment im re touching some of the highlights on the 59 Cadillac painting.After the 1st round of varnish the colors and contrast came up a lot, and since im getting ready for final varnish this is the best time to get in any last little bits. 68 Cadillac Ink Original & Matching Frame

I got the 68 Cadillac Ink & Airbrush original back from the framers just before the weekend and was able to get it finished before I started on the 70 Chevelle painting. The frame was completed using gloss enamels both by hand and airbrush to match the original piece. This one is one of my all time favorites- something about it is just different then the others. This guy is SOLD but a new Cadillac piece will be underway soon!

55 Buick Ink Piece Part 3 FINISHED!!

All finished with the 55 Buick Ink & Airbrush piece- this one was done completely freehand (no rulers or curves were used) on 12"x24" bristol. Next step is to have a frame made so I can do the traditional frame extended artwork. The original is available and soon prints will be too!

Here's the progress on the 55 Buick ink piece- I've got the background and road just finished up, so now I can go back in and finish all the details on the car like the flake on the roof, highlights, door edges... things like that. This one will be available when finished!

55 Buick Ink Piece Part 1

I got started on a new ink piece yesterday featuring a custom 1955 Buick- all the lines are done with pens and markers completely freehand, no rulers are curves are used. I've got the basic lines and tones of the car down so now I can start on the background, then later finish up the details on the car
