Happy St. Patrick's Day! What a great excuse to share something green and give some love to the air cooled cars like this 66 Corvair Fastback concept from a little while back. I'm actually quite an air cooled enthusiast- I have a 69 Vw roadster as a daily driver and own 2 Corvairs. I really love the styling of the Corvair's and am always considering options for if I were to modify one of mine. Originally done using Markers & Airbrushed acrylics on Marker Paper.

For Truck Tuesday- New 1953 Ford F100 Print

For Truck Tuesday we've just added a new print at a new size- the custom 1953 Ford F100 is now available as a standard print size of 8.5"x11".

The concept for the rendering is based off the idea of a beefed up farm truck- lowered on red wheels w/ over sized caps sporting spinner caps wrapped in wide whites, side exhaust, slight roof chop, no bumpers, and smoothed roll pan style front end. The orignal rendering was done using markers & airbrushed acrylics on marker paper.

The 8.5"x11" prints are on a smooth heavy weight matte paper and are sharp & vibrant.

For Mustang Monday- 65 Fastback/Racecar

The concept for this rendering is based off of a 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback and incorporates some modern touches as well as some classic ones. Gt 500-E Front Bumper, Blot On Fender Flares, Side Exhaust, Shelby Hood Scoop, Shelby Side Scoops, Adjustable Rear Spoiler, American Racing Wheels with Spinner Caps, finished with a 2 toned Black & Red Paint Job. The Original rendering was done by hand using Markers & Airbrushed Acrylics on Marker Paper.

12"x24" Signed & Numbered Prints are available and done on a Heavy Weight Matte Smooth Archival Paper that allow the reproductions to be as rich, true, and clean as the original. They are carefully rolled in a wide diameter tube for shipment and come signed &numbered out of 100. Prints are also done in house to assure consistency with the original as well as quality.

NEW Chevy C10 Artwork & Prints

I've been away from the studio a few weeks working at a shop rebuilding the motor to my daily Vw Roadster- thankfully the guys there helped me out a ton in getting it all squared away and now the car is super awesome! So now that I'm home I'm getting some fresh ink down on the pages. A couple weeks ago I sketched up this 69 C10 and finally had a chance to render it recently. Many small touches and detail changes make for a clean custom, but the stance, wheels and slight roof chop really make the difference. 1st Drawing of the Day- Camaro Under Hood Version 2

1st drawing of the day is this Camaro under hood layout version 2- The builder made some design changes from the previous version and wanted a fresh render. Since I wasn't allowed to fling paint at this one I got extra carried away with lights instead to give it some action. Markers/Airbrush/Acrylics on Marker Paper. On to the next one!

Custom 1949 Mercury Rendering (test piece)

I'm gearing up to do a rendering of a 49 Merc for a customer-  and sometimes when I'm getting ready to do a rendering I do a quick practice version of it so I can test out some materials. This way I'll already have all my tones and colors picked out and ready to go for the final piece. So this was a test piece I did a couple nights ago of a custom 49 Merc using:

Custom 1949 Chevy Truck Rendering

Earlier in the month I was asked to put together a rendering for PAC Racing Springs of the 49 Chevy truck they're building- it sounded like a great project and opportunity so I jumped on board. All the details were explained to me and the challenge I really saw was the patina/rusted look with some remaining body color. But challenges push your limits and really help you go further so I really wanted to make it happen. In addition there was some new trim, a special emblem on the hood, and white wall tires wrapped around red smoothies. It came down to testing out a bunch of acrylic color combinations together and using some new techniques to bring it all together. This rendering was done using airbrushed acrylics, gouaches, pens and markers on 16"x24" illustration board- all done by hand, none of it is done digitally. It was a great opportunity and I couldn't be happier with the way it came out- a great challenge and learning experience.

55 Buick Ink Piece Part 3 FINISHED!!

All finished with the 55 Buick Ink & Airbrush piece- this one was done completely freehand (no rulers or curves were used) on 12"x24" bristol. Next step is to have a frame made so I can do the traditional frame extended artwork. The original is available and soon prints will be too!

55 Buick Ink Piece Part 2

Here's the progress on the 55 Buick ink piece- I've got the background and road just finished up, so now I can go back in and finish all the details on the car like the flake on the roof, highlights, door edges... things like that. This one will be available when finished!

55 Buick Ink Piece Part 1

I got started on a new ink piece yesterday featuring a custom 1955 Buick- all the lines are done with pens and markers completely freehand, no rulers are curves are used. I've got the basic lines and tones of the car down so now I can start on the background, then later finish up the details on the car 

Custom 50 Ford Ink Art & Custom Matching Frame

This piece was the last and one of the largest marker pieces I've done, especially with a painted to match frame. The original piece is on 22"x30" illustration board and features a custom 1950 Ford rendered with gold markers. The background was done with grey tone markers and Sharpies, and the entire piece was done completely freehand- no rulers, tools, stencils or templates were used. Then the original was taken to my local custom framers where they fitted it with glass, a 2.75" wide satin black frame all around, sealed up the back and included mounting wire so it's ready to hang. The last steps were to mix matching enamels (whites, blacks, and greys) to match the original tone of the ink drawing and extend the artwork out on to the frame by hand. The artwork extensions also wrap completely around the edges of the frame. The completed piece measures 27"x35"x1"

Custom 67 Pontiac Firebird Convertible Drawing

It's been a while since the last post, but thought I'd start with the most recent and move in some direction from there. But for now here's a commissioned drawing I did last weekend of a 67 Firebird Convertible done primarily using airbrushed acrylics, pencil, and a little marker on 14"x17" paper. The last few months I've been lucky enough to do nothing but car drawings/paintings back to back and it's been a blast- I've got a lot more to post and a lot more to look forward to!
