Giger-esque Painting Finished!!

All finished with my Giger-esque airbrush painting! This was done completely freehand using india ink on 16"x20" canvas. This one was a lot of fun- it started out as a practice piece then ended up being bought so that I would finish it out, and I'm glad I did. Im working on prints, but I definitely be doing more like this in the future!

I've been working on this one off and on today while also prepping for a commission I'm starting tomorrow, but this is a good stopping point for tonight. This one has been a lot of fun and definitely has been good practice- I'll pick up on it later this week!

Just about got the lower section laid out like I want so it's time to take a break. Each portion and area has it's own details and textures which adds a bit of time to everything, but it's coming out great!

Yesterday I grabbed one of the scrap canvases here to do a little airbrush practice on to help keep things fresh in my mind- turns out I should have started with a cleaner canvas. I have managed to get some of the defects out at this point since im thinking I'd like to finish this one the rest of the way- it's just been too much fun!

Last night at the Sev Ven Gallery Show I got to meet lots of great artists like Vincent Gabriel, Chris Ralski Amesquita, Michael Bermudez... and see some really cool art from artists who weren't present like Raquel Sturges and Jim Charette. Inspired by all the artwork I saw last night, I decided to do a small Michael Bermudez inspired Sharpie Art piece over coffee this morning. Michael and I share an enthusiasm for HR Giger style work which is where some of our ideas stem from.
